What is High Cholesterol?

Lets start with, Cholesterol isn’t bad for you , only when you get to much of it. You can get Cholesterol from eggs, meats and dairy products. Cholesterol is a waxy substance mad in the Liver. Your body needs some Cholesterol in order to function properly. However, even though we need some Cholesterol to much can cause heart disease. High Cholesterol is just as dangerous as High Blood Pressure.

High Cholesterol Risk Factors

Age has a significant factor on Cholesterol risk. As we get older the risk of High Cholesterol increases. With men it in the age limits of 45 years old or older. With women it’s around 55 years old or older. Your family history of High Cholesterol is also a factor. The risk of High Cholesterol may increase if a father or even a brother was affected before the age of 55 with heart Disease. Even if a Sister or Mother was affected with Heart disease before the age of 65.

What is Heart Disease?

Most people think of Heart disease as someone had a Heart attack, when it actually covers many conditions. It covers Coronary Artery Disease, Cardiomyopathy, and Heart Failure. Heart Disease is often used interchangeably with the term Cardiovascular Disease. Cardiovascular Disease generally refers to conditions that involve narrowed or blocked blood vessels that can lead to a Heart Attack. Heart Disease can some times be found early with regular check ups.

The symptoms from men to women can differ. For example, a man is more likely to have chest pain when a woman is more likely to have other symptoms. Which are, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, nausea and extreme fatigue. Please pay attention to what your body is trying to alert you to. Chances are, you will have a Heart Attack before being diagnosed with heart disease. That’s why it’s so important to pay attention and know what the symptoms are for Heart disease. Heart disease symptoms depend on what type of Heart disease you have.

Symptoms of Heart Disease in Blood vessels

Chest Pain, Chest Tightness, Chest Pressure

Shortness of Breath

Pain, Numbness, Weakness or Coldness in your legs or arms if blood vessels in those areas are narrowed

Pain in your neck, Jaw, Throat or your Back
